My Pre-trip Tradition

A Clean House = A Clear Mind

As a tradition, before I leave on a trip, I like to clean the house. I can’t relax while on my trip if I know I have stuff waiting for me. So I get this stuff outta the way and make these tasks past tense:

  • Emails answered

  • Appointments scheduled

  • Bills paid

  • Laundry washed and put away

  • Bathroom bleached and sparkling

  • Fresh towels in the bathroom and kitchen

  • Carpets and furniture vacuumed

  • All surfaces dusted

  • Dishes washed and put away

  • Fridge cleaned out

  • Garbage/recycles/compost out

  • Bedding changed

  • Ash’s bedroom floor LEGO free

  • Indoor/outdoor plants watered

  • Hard drives backed up

  • Odds and ends organized and tidied

  • All gadgets going on the trip charged

  • Mailbox emptied

  • Zero Odor sprayed by the shoes and on the carpet to deodorize any lingering odors while we’re away

  • All air purifiers on max

Now, when I come home, all I have to do is unpack and relax. No mad dash to do chores or any lingering household stuff cuz it’s all done! I can play Animal Crossing or play Apps on my phone without feeling guilty. Why? Cuz I got it all done!

And that is my pre-travel tradition!
